The Texas Bar Foundation solicits charitable contributions and provides funding to enhance the rule of law and the system of justice in Texas, especially for programs that relate to the administration of justice; ethics in the legal profession; legal assistance for the needy; the encouragement of legal research, publications and forums; and the education of the public.
In the mid ’60’s, the legal community in Texas recognized a critical need for an organization dedicated to advancing the justice system for all. The result was the Texas Bar Foundation, a philanthropic organization distinguished by both legal excellence and a fundamental mission to serve.
The Texas Bar Foundation has demonstrated a profound commitment to improving the justice system in Texas. As part of this commitment, the Foundation literally reinvests in communities across the state to improve advocacy efforts and provide capital equipment to meet future legal assistance needs.
Since our inception in 1965, the Texas Bar Foundation has distributed well over $10 million in grants. With contributions from more than 7,500 Texas attorneys to date, we are the largest charitably-funded bar foundation in the country.
With escalating costs and increasing budget constraints, today’s economic environment is a challenge. Yet, because of generous attorneys, the Texas Bar Foundation supports community efforts that include direct legal services, youth advocacy and education programs, mentoring projects, major equipment purchases and much more.
More importantly, legal barriers have been removed for the needy. Doors have been opened for the underserved. And educational programs have enlightened citizens throughout the state of Texas.
By being careful stewards and with the support of the legal community of Texas, we ensure that the work of the Texas Bar Foundation will continue well into the future.
Sincerely,
The Texas Bar Foundation
